Beginner Guide
The safest opening is shelter first, then planks, food, tavern service, pier access, and finally the Ambition compass. Do not spread buildings across cliffs until roads and vertical paths can keep goods moving.
Fast route
Section titled “Fast route”- Connect the starting wreck or beach resources to your first camp site.
- Build toward Woodcutter and Sawmill because Planks are used everywhere.
- Stabilize food with early gathering and cooking buildings such as Fishing Hut, Campfire, Pig Herder, or Soup Kitchen depending on what deposits are nearby.
- Add drink service with the Tavern path. The tutorial text explicitly pushes a tavern before the first pier plan finishes.
- Build or repair a pier so ships can leave, return, repair, and resupply.
- Use the Ambition compass only after the settlement can keep feeding, housing, and moving goods.
Route check
Section titled “Route check”The map tempts you to build tall immediately. That is fine, but every new height layer adds travel cost. If a building has the correct inputs but still stalls, the problem is usually route length, fetcher capacity, or a disconnected path, not the recipe itself.
What to read next
Section titled “What to read next”- Production Chains for resource bottlenecks.
- Vertical Building and Logistics for roads, cliff paths, and fetchers.
- Crew Needs and Taverns once your pirate count grows.
