Scabies
A sickness spreads across our island, causing itchy skin rashes. What should we do?
Choices and Outcomes
Section titled “Choices and Outcomes”| Decision | Choose | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Option 1 | Find a Cure | Some physicians recommend sulphur to quell the infection and destroy the parasites, but we only have Tar. It burns both the skin and nostrils, but it’s the results that matter. |
| Option 2 | Dull the Pain | There’s little that can be done against this disease. Alcohol can at least be used to dull the pain and make the sick forget about the maddening itch. |
| Option 3 | Send the Afflicted Away | It’s easier to get rid of the sick than get rid of scabies mites. We put them on a boat and send them away from our harbour, as if they were lepers. |
| Option 4 | Power Through the Itch | There’s nothing that we can do against scabies. This disease — and the mites carrying it — will always proliferate in places where hygiene is questionable at best. We could cure it now and it would come again. So we do nothing. |
