The Wrath of the Sea
The merfolk have been spotted near our shores, and they appear furious. What should we do?
Choices and Outcomes
Section titled “Choices and Outcomes”| Decision | Choose | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Option 1 | Offer Turtle Soup | The merfolk seem to appreciate our gesture, and their righteous fury is somewhat quelled as a result. They accept to give us the benefit of the doubt for now, but warn they will be watching us, leaving our people on edge. After they leave, the waters surrounding our island are found teeming with sea life, including Fish. |
| Option 2 | Return the Stolen Jewels | Sailors know it is never wise to incur the wrath of the creatures who dwell in the depths. We investigate the merfolk’s claim and find it to be true: indeed, a misguided crewmate stole precious jewels from them. We return all of it and beg for forgiveness, pride be damned. When the merfolk leave, we discover large Pearls on the beach. |
| Option 3 | Hunt the Merfolk | No one, be they a human or a creature of legend, may come to a our island with demands and threats of violence. To the merfolk’s fury, we oppose our own: the battle is deadly, but we triumph. We might even make a profit from this incident: some say rich aristocrats pay good Coin for merfolk flesh. Although we know the sea will not forget nor forgive. |
| Option 4 | Dismiss the Claims | We decide to keep our collective head in the proverbial sand, and ignore the testimonies and warnings. Unease grows amongst our people as offshore attacks continue, fiercer than ever before. Until they suddenly stop, leaving us with an inexplicable sense of dread. |
